Meet Regan
Regan Gray is a Portland native with a lifelong commitment to the values that make our community special. For the past six years, she has worked in the Capitol in Salem fighting for District 42. As Chief of Staff for House Speaker Pro Tempore Diane Rosenbaum - our current State Representative - Regan played a critical role in setting the stage for Oregon's 2007 legislative session, one of the most progressive and effective in the nation.
Regan lives in the Sunnyside neighborhood with her husband. She graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Women's Studies, and she has devoted her career to delivering real victories on social justice, workers' rights, family fairness, and broader access to healthcare. In the Oregon House, she will ensure that we continue to have an effective, progressive leader advocating for our communities in SE and NE Portland.
Fighting for Equality and Fairness
Regan is motivated by a commitment to equality for all Oregonians. As a former board member of Basic Rights Equality PAC, Regan has been on the front lines of the battle to stop discrimination. Working in the legislature, she was the leading legislative staffer shepherding our historic Domestic Partnership legislation through the House of Representatives and mandating legal recognition and fairness for same-sex couples and their families.
Working for Working People
During the last successful fight to raise Oregon's minimum wage, Regan was a key grassroots leader. She served on the statewide Steering Committee, and whether she was representing the campaign in public debates or standing in the rain collecting signatures, Regan's hard work played an important role in this historic victory for working families in Oregon. More than 100,000 Oregonians saw an increase in their paychecks, and Regan returned to the legislature to fight the special interests determined to take that away. She also worked to pass legislation to strengthen family leave, corporate accountability and protections for injured workers.
Promoting Women, Protecting Choice
Regan Gray is a leader in the fight for women's healthcare in Oregon. She has served as chair of the Oregon Commission for Women and as administrator for the Oregon Women's Health and Wellness Alliance. She has been right in the middle of the battle to protect Oregonians right to choose. In the legislature she fought to protect choice, to guarantee equal insurance coverage for contraception, and to make sure that survivors of rape and sexual assault are guaranteed access to emergency contraception. Regan also successfully passed legislation to increase insurance fairness in breast cancer coverage, even during Republican control in Salem.
